In the homes
of past eras, telecom meant single or double lines
(at the most) connected to multiple phones strategically
located for convenience (living room, bedroom, kitchen

of the digital subscriber line or DSL which allows
continuous connection to the Internet. DSL exploits
the telephone line's capacity to transmit information
at wide ranges - from low frequency (voice), medium
frequency (modem) to very high frequency (DSL).
Because of the latter, DSL can transmit large amounts
of data at a very high speed.

Cable which
allows access to hundreds of TV channels can now
also be used as the link to the Internet. As with
DSL, cable provides a high speed connection. It's
also possible to connect to the Internet using a
radio frequency (wireless - "WIFI") or
